Where does the money go?
All profits from the Thrift Store go to support the programs of the Arc of Hanover.
Most of the operations of the store are by volunteers, under the management of Store Manager Sherri Lanning. Volunteers were the original instigators of the store (thanks Rickey and Pam!) and continue to keep it going.
While shopping you will undoubtedly run into folks with intellectual and developmental disabilities helping run the store. They work the cash register, do intake and sort, they run goods back and forth, help people load their vehicles with the treasures they buy. In short, they are fully included, living a life like ours (ALLY) which is our entire goal at the Arc of Hanover.
Want to Volunteer?
We'd love to have you! Here are some of the roles for volunteers:

Intake - help people donating unload and thanking them

Sorting - help sort donations

Pricing - research unusual items to help assign a price to them

Staging - help put products on the floor in pleasing arrangements

Cleaning - so much to dust!

Trash cleanup in the warehouse

Floor sweeping - such a help!

Work the register - we'll train you!

Buddying with people with IDD so they can volunteer and have a great time doing it!
